Outcomes

When you have completed the forty-one criteria you need to formulate your outcomes. This is often perceived as quite a challenge, but it need not be!

Outcomes are an opportunity to showcase the most stunning evidence you have of the impact you see following changes you have made. They are your chance to pick, for each of the four core themes, just one example of your excellent work to show the quality of the impact (qualitativeQualitative means the quality of the action. How much improvement is there now in the quality of the provision, learning, or environment, than before the action was undertaken? Can you see a difference? Can the students or other members of the school community tell you about it?  outcome) and one example of just how much things have changed (quantitativeQuantitative means how much things have improved. You need a figure from before the action and an improved figure following the intervention or implementation of the action. Can you see a difference? Can the students or other members of the school community tell you about it? Can you quantify the improvement? Can you answer the “So What?” question with specifics? outcome). It is important to give some consideration to your outcomes early on in your Healthy Schools work so that you can gather appropriate evidence and data to draw comparisons.

What makes a good outcome? We have found that if the outcome statement can answer the "So what?" question, it is likely to be a good outcome. "We did this for Healthy Schools - so what?" Briefly describe what you did, when you did it and what happened as a result. You'll need some baseline data so that you can make before and after comparisons.

On the pages linked to this page (see the navigation bar on the left of the screen) you will find examples based on actual outcomes submitted by Cornish schools.
