Joining Healthy Schools Plus in Cornwall
We're recruiting schools to take part
The objective of Healthy Schools Plus is for your school to develop its Healthy Schools work by extending and strengthening a particular aspect. In choosing the aspect to work on, we'll encourage you to look at various needs:
- the local needs of your school's community
- your school's needs
- the needs of those in priority groups such as looked-after children, young carers etc.
- health inequalities in your school's community
- the needs reflected in Kernow Matters, the research that underpins the Cornwall Children and Young People's Plan.
Essential requirements
In order to join the Healthy Schools Plus pilot, your school must
- already be a Healthy School
- continue to meet Healthy Schools criteria, which you'll now do by completing the annual review
- (primary schools only) be participating in the National Child Measurement Programme.
We are particularly keen for your school to take part if, in addition to the above
- your school is in a most deprived ward or your pupils are drawn from a deprived area
- more than 20% of your pupils are entitled to free school meals.
Cohorts 1 and 2 are up and running and we're recruiting for Cohort 3. If you are interested in taking part but haven't been to one of the recent training days, don't worry, we're running two more training days on 9th and 16th September 2010, contact us to book a place or telephone 01209 310061 if you'd like a chat. (This is your last chance to join Healthy Schools Plus!) Healthy Schools Plus now links closely with the introduction of the Healthy Schools enhancement model and our training days reflect this.
We're looking forward to working with you on some superbly good Healthy Schools Plus projects in Cornish schools!
