Identifying healthier behaviour outcomes

The second step in the Healthy Schools Plus process is to identify healthier behaviour outcomes. Think of them as the targets that you will work towards in order to gain Healthy Schools Plus status and remember that the work you do will also help provide robust evidence to Ofsted.

The following pages will provide you with suggestions to support your work and will point you towards evidence-based or good practice actions to help develop healthier behaviour. Further to the good practice that emerged from Cohort 1, South West Healthy Schools compiled lists of suggested outcomes for Healthy Schools Plus work. The lists can also be downloaded from the following pages.

Tackling teenage pregnancy and SRE

EHWB / mental health

Alcohol education

Drugs education

Healthier weight for children

Sun safety

When you have chosen your healthier behaviour outcomes you will decide what actions to undertake to bring about change. It is extremely important that these are carefully selected to meet the needs of your school. Our pages Evidence-based practice and Good practice principles will help you.

We are offering schools the chance to participate in several established pieces of work linked to these priority areas which we know to be effective and which we and our partners are actively supporting in Cornwall. However, you do not have to use these examples and we are happy to support other work suitable to meet the needs of your pupils. Find out more about the Healthy Schools Plus headline projects.
