Review
Validation is a stage in the ongoing Healthy Schools process of continued whole school improvement. When you validated, your school provided a snapshot of its healthy status under each of the forty-one criteria. As time passes, the needs of your school community change. At the beginning of each new academic year new pupils arrive in school and because you have implemented the whole school approach and the Healthy Schools ethos is embedded into your school's culture, they are able to assimilate the Healthy Schools agenda and contribute to it with only a little prompting. Although you keep the Healthy Schools agenda fresh other changes occur and you need to further develop your Healthy Schools work. This process will be made easier for you by the introduction of the Annual Review.
Following validation your Healthy Schools Support Worker will maintain contact with you in order to help you develop your work in all four core themes.
When you transfer to the Annual Review you will need to say that you continue to meet the forty-one criteria and you will need to identify outcomes that demontrate your progress. We recommend that you align these outcomes with the pupil wellbeing indicators being developed by Ofsted. In this way you will lighten your workload because your Healthy Schools work will feed seamlessly into your next Ofsted inspection.
