Physical activity
Bodriggy Primary School The school operates a Mile Challenge. Children of all ages run a mile a day, two or three times a week and TAs record each mile on the children's record cards. In assembly the children receive certificates from the Head Teacher: bronze for ten miles, silver for twenty-five, gold for fifty and platinum for a hundred miles. "I feel we have created a school where running is good, enjoyed and valued" said Bodriggy's Healthy Schools Co-ordinator.
Mevagissey CP School The school has a “walk to school on Wednesdays bus” and this is encouraging more children to walk to school at least once a week.
Flushing CE School The school co-ordinates and participates in the Virtual Sports League for the Penryn and Falmouth Sports Partnership. Pupils of any age complete a skills challenge in their own school. The results for the challenge are counted and an average score is calculated for that school. These average scores are then sent, by email (this is the virtual element), by a given date and collated into a league which is then emailed back to all the schools. This is repeated at least once a term throughout the academic year. Tasks include a flamingo balance, shuttle run, speed bounce and throwing and several others. All these help pupils to improve their fitness and increase their level of skill and body management.
