BHF Heartstart in Cornwall
Dedicated Heartstart worker for Cornwall Healthy Schools
Following generous funding and support from the BHF we have been able to recruit for a Heartstart Network Co-ordinator to develop Heartstart in Cornwall.
Katherine Bassey, our Co-ordinator, will work with schools and the wider comm
unity to bring Heartstart to as many people as possible throughout Cornwall.
Katherine used to be a Resuscitation Officer for an acute hospital trust and has experience in resuscitation practise and teaching for both in-hospital and out-of-hospital situations
So far we have offered a number of training courses for instructors and have trained our 100th Instructor (during the course on the 5th January 2012). We have also set up a Cornwall wide Heartstart Programme called Heartstart Cornwall, Healthy Communities to support community based training.
We are passionate about Heartstart in Cornwall Healthy Schools as we feel it has a great deal to offer schools and your communities and your healthy schools work.

The children of Parc Eglos School in Helston have just completed their Heartstart training and Katherine was on hand to award them their certificates in a ceremony at the school in April 2012.
