Hands-Only CPR Campaign Vinnie Jones

BHF have launched an exciting new TV campaign.  The theme will be encouraging lay people to do compression only CPR in the event of cardiac arrest.  Through the TV advert the BHF want to communicate a simple message to a large number of individuals who would not otherwise access CPR training.

The campaign will be covering the importance of rescuers keeping themselves safe, calling 999 and then pushing hard and fast in the centre of the chest.  The BHF want to emphasise that being untrained should not stop people from performing chest compression only CPR, preferably with telephone advice from the 999 call operator.

There will be a dedicated area of the BHF website where people can view a longer demonstrational video and suggest they get some ‘hands on’ experience by attending a local training course.  In this the BHF will also explain that ideally CPR would include rescue breathing, especially when bystander CPR is required for more than a few minutes.

Of course Heartstart Cornwall, Healthy Communities will be supporting the campaign and we hope to encourage our schools and community partners to offer courses to met the demand we expect to be created from the TV campaign.
