Internet safety for children and young people 

UK Council for Child Internet Safety 

The UK Council for Child Internet Safety is tasked with implementing the recommendations of the Byron review. Assessing progress in March 2010, Professor Tanya Byron published Do we have safer children in a digital world? She advocates empowering children and young people to become responsible users of digital technology rather than blocking what they can access and she outlines recommendations for the Government and UKCCIS to improve education for children and young people and make parents more aware of the strategies that already exist to help ensure their children’s digital safety.

St Just Primary School Healthy Schools Plus work

For their Healthy Schools Plus work St Just Primary School chose to help pupils to use the internet and mobile communications safely, to inform parents of the dangers of cyber-bullying and to equip them with the knowledge to keep their children safe online. Read the case study.

EU Kids online

CEOP

The Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre works to protect children from exploitation. CEOP's Think U Know website is for children, young people, parents, carers, teachers and trainers.

Internet safety for teachers 

Internet safety is as much a concern for teachers as it is for pupils. In a 2009 survey carried out by the Teacher Support Network, 15% of teachers and lecturers said they had been victims of cyberbullying. In response the DCSF produced Cyberbullying: supporting school staff.
