Leeds City Council's school meals mini-site
Leeds City Council has developed a school meals mini-site outlining what they are doing to tackle all aspects of food in schools. There are some excellent resources there, for example the packed lunch policy toolkit, which contains lots of super ideas including a survey and ideas for collating and using the data gathered. Some secondary schools will find the Leeds work on the cashless cafeteria particularly helpful.
School Food Trust packed lunch policy
In collaboration with Healthy Schools and the Food Standards Agency, the School Food Trust has developed a step-by-step guide for schools about developing a healthy packed lunch policy. By providing information and links to specific resources, tips and tools, the SFT hopes to help schools to use a consistent approach to healthy school lunches, both school- and home-provided. By using this toolkit schools can help ensure that parents and pupils have access to the knowledge and skills to select a healthy packed lunch.
