Cornwall children's health information leaflet

Following a successful pilot scheme in five primary schools and after consultation with headteachers, parents and carers the new leaflet has been introduced.

• The leaflet covers vision assessments, hearing checks and weighing and measuring.
• Parents and carers have the ‘positive choice’ option of saying ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to the checks.
• The leaflet contains an example of the Cornwall-specific letter that parents and carers will receive about their child’s weight.
• There is a tear-off slip at the back of the leaflet which parents and carers will need to return to the school indicating their response for each health check.
• And each leaflet contains a free child swim voucher which children in reception and year 6 can redeem at local swimming pools managed by Cornwall Council.

IT Services have produced a handy guide: Download and import the health-weight reports for SIMS. It guides schools throught the process of downloading data templates from SIMS.
