Stonewall Homophobic Bullying Work

3 Oct 2011

Stonewall offer schools support, guidance and resources to help tackle homophobic language and bullying in schools.

This support includes the School Champions Programme

YouGov polling carried out for Stonewall shows that nine in ten secondary school teachers and more than two in five primary school teachers say pupils, regardless of their sexual orientation, experience homophobic bullying, name calling or harassment.

Our School Champions programme will give schools the skills and resources they need to prevent and tackle homophobic bullying. It will also help schools to comply with the Equality Act 2010 and to fulfil the revised Ofsted judgements.

We currently work closely with a diverse range of primary and secondary schools, who will now be joining the programme as our first School Champions. As you have already shown an interest in tackling homophobic bullying, we would like to extend this offer of being a founding member to your school or a school that you think would like to be amongst the first to access our expert support.

For more information about the programme please visit www.stonewall.org.uk/schoolchampions or feel free to contact us at lucy.warwick@stonewall.org.uk or call on 020 7593 1881.
