Walk to School Week
18 Nov 2008

Pupils of Mevagissey CP School walk to school accompanied by "Billy the Boot".
Aimee Crabtree, Cornwall Healthy Schools team, had a very energetic time during Walk to School Week! Working in partnership with Rachael Thomas (Cornwall County Council School Travel Plan), her team and Cornwall County Council's road safety mascot "Billy the Boots", Aimee visited ten schools during the week. She led Wake Up Shake Up sessions and helped during assemblies. She was very impressed with the schools she visited, particularly those where pupils led fitness sessions. And of course, "Billy the Boot" joined in all the fun.
The Cornwall Healthy Schools Programme was proud to donate ten smoothie makers as Walk to School Week prizes. These were won by pupils from the following schools: Burraton Community Primary School, Trewirgie Infants School, St. Michael's CE School, Biscovey Junior School, Crowan Primary School, Luxulyan School, Newlyn School, Heamoor CP School, St. Meriadoc Junior School, and St. Petroc's Primary School. We hope that the prize winners enjoy making lots of lovely smoothies. It is very encouraging to see that so many schools have increasing numbers of pupils walking to school, have daily Wake Up Shake Up sessions, or have established other regular "fun fit" sessions.
