Our support for schools
A school-centred ethos
We aim to:
- provide support that suits the specific needs of each individual school, the children and their parents and carers
- provide support for schools preparing to gain or maintain Healthy School status and for those developing a focussed piece of work for HS Plus
- provide realistic support and advice to develop meaningful and achievable action plans based on the needs of the school
- help schools achieve the best possible outcomes from their involvement with us
- focus on the needs of schools rather than government targets
- ensure schools have autonomy over their involvement with us
- offer a high level of support to schools
- celebrate all the achievements and successes that every school brings
- work cooperatively with all our partners for the benefit of schools
- be innovative, listening, responsive, flexible and positive
- and strive for inclusion and equality in all we do.
We aim to do this by:
- providing good quality, timely information in accessible ways
- sharing good practice and celebrating successes
- offering needs-led training at flexible times and in more locations, as well as specific school-based support
- developing and facilitating teacher support networks and helping new schools learn from the good practice of similar schools
- enabling the meaningful participation of teachers, staff, parents and carers, and pupils in the development, delivery and evaluation of the work
- continually evaluating our activities and their impact
- keeping up to date with developments
- and bringing an understanding of the realities of school life and the challenges they present.
In two words ...
passion and pragmatism
