Heartstart

Emergency life-support skills

Co-ordinated by the British Heart Foundation, Heartstart UK teaches emergency life-support (ELS) skills.

The programme can be taught in school as a complete course or split as a staged programme across year groups starting at age 5. ELS skills support your work around Healthy Schools and can fit into your school curriculum (PSHEe, Science, PE) or can be run as an extra-curricular activity. Affiliation to the Heartstart UK Schools Programme is free and you will be provided with the appropriate resources to run it within your school. Staff who are to run the programme will need to receive training to ensure their skills are up to date. This training is free of charge and schools can claim supply cover for up to four members of staff to attend once affiliated.

Heartstart UK schemes are based in many different organisations, including schools. For more information about Heartstart in Cornwall's schools contact us or telephone 01209 310061 and ask for Aimee.
