Public health outcomes
In early 2011 the government published a consultation document on its proposed public health outcomes framework.
These proposed outcomes are linked to the key health challenges facing society both nationally and locally. Healthy Schools work can contribute to some of these outcomes and this section outlines the links and opportunities.
In particular Healthy Schools Plus schools will work closely with key partners towards achieving locally agreed health and wellbeing outcomes. The focussed piece of work they choose to do will reflect school-based local and national priorities as outlined in the public health outcomes document, the local Children and Young People’s Plans and in CIOSPCT's operational plan.
In short, the key local priorities for Cornwall are:
- childhood obesity
- under 16 conception rates (teenage pregnancy)
- alcohol and drugs
- emotional health and wellbeing and mental health
- sun safety.
Our project plan for 2011-12 reflects these priorities and identifies some of the key local and national strategies to which we are contributing.
