Quality Assurance Group (QuAG)

Who are they?

QuAG members are drawn from a range of agencies and groups who work with, or have contact with schools.

David Hampshire (County PSHE, Citizenship and RE advisor) chairs the group and current membership is drawn from:

  • Schools Sports Coordinators (SSCOs) and Partnership Development Managers (PDMs)
  • the Behaviour Support Team
  • the Teenage Pregnancy Coordinator (or representative)
  • Drugs and Alcohol YP strategy representative
  • School Nurses
  • Anti-Bullying Cornwall
  • the School Meals Service
  • the School Improvement Team
  • Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Primary Care Trust
  • and the Cornwall Healthy Schools Team.

What do they do?

The QuAG's role is to:

  • identify, celebrate and disseminate effective practice
  • ensure consistency in National Healthy School Status across all schools
  • seek clarification, where necessary, from schools regarding minimum evidence
  • and undertake moderation of a 10% sample of schools.

After submission of the self-validation, in most instances schools will automatically proceed to achieving National Healthy School Status (NHSS).

Should a member of the QuAG seek clarification based on the minimum evidence required (for example the Behaviour and Attendance team know that you don't have an anti-bullying policy), we will contact you for clarification.

If you are able to show you have met the relevant minimum evidence you will be
recorded on the database as achieving NHSS.

If the minimum evidence is not in place then we will offer support, and agree actions and timescales with you to enable you to demonstrate the missing minimum evidence. Once this is provided you will proceed to achieving NHSS.
