Emotional health and wellbeing

Lewannick CP School Thanks to a useful suggestion made during accreditation a member of staff completed Level 1 training in bereavement support with Penhaligon’s Friends. This proved to be an invaluable resource when a much-loved member of staff died in May 2008.

Newlyn School The school wanted to develop wellbeing. They have implemented whole school golden rules, class rules and whole school rewards and punishment systems. "Already our school is so much calmer, the atmosphere is lovely," said Newlyn's Healthy Schools Co-ordinator. "The whole school is coming together.  Display areas are beginning to be more colourful and informative." The whole school has timetabled Circle Time and it is being used regularly to deal with problems and situations. The school has joined Health Schools Action Plus which is opening many doors for them.
