Mevagissey CP School The school needed to ensure that more shade was provided on their very exposed school site so they now have a sun shelter, donated by Mevagissey Feast Week Committee, and they have erected a pergola which will eventually be covered by shade-giving plants.
Richard Lander School "Stepping into Shoes". This theatre project was performed at the Knowledge Spa and later made into a film. The drama investigated young people's responses to the healthcare system by taking the audience on the emotional journey of a surgery patient. Project partners: theatre practitioner Sheila Snellgrove, TriArts, Creative Partnership and the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust.
St Issey VA CE School The school is making increased use of SEAL material in PSHE. They reviewed and improved the PSHE policy to scheme of work and the children’s knowledge and involvement in this area of the curriculum has greatly increased. They also ran an Equality and Diversity project which culminated in a dance/drama at the Royal Cornwall Show.
St Neot Primary School They created a display in the hall showing all aspects of Healthy Schools work. Around the school there are more displays for PSHE and PE, showing the ten learning objectives. The school regularly has open assemblies helping to send the message and school ethos to the community.
St John's Catholic Primary School has developed after-school clubs supporting the Healthy School focus. Mrs Rom rus a first aid club which contributes to the children's health education and sense of staying safe.
Sithney Community Primary involved governors in the Healthy Schools process. A Committee of Governors collaborated with the HS co-ordinator. They held meetings to review what had been done and to decide on action points. Members of the Healthy Schools Governors' Committee were actively involved in drawing up and updating policies and action plans. This allowed the other governors the time to deal with other aspects.
