Small Grant case studies
A considerable number of Cornish schools have benefitted from our Small Grant Scheme (which has now ended) and have completed the evaluation process six months after receipt of the money.
It has been really encouraging to read the case studies that you have provided to us, and particularly to note that the vast majority of you have ensured that your activities continue after the initial grant money has been spent. Many projects have centred around healthy eating in schools and quite a lot more have been concerned with gardening clubs, which is very pleasing, as healthy eating is fundamental to the programme and gardening involves both physical activity and healthy food. There have been fewer projects centred on the other core themes, but this is not a problem; we have been really pleased to see the quality of all the work that you are doing. And some of you have sent us some fabulous photos. Thank you!
I have organised the majority of the small grant case studies by core theme on the pages related to this, but Chacewater's case study spans all four core themes.
Chacewater Community Primary School The grant funding was used for Healthy Schools Week activities, including cooking, fitness, dance, drama and PSHE. The ideas for these activities resulted from discussion with the School Council, Parents' Forum and school staff. In order to deliver the project the co-ordinator needed non-contact time, staff meetings were held to explain the workshops, information was given to parents and parents were invited to appropriate sessions and an assembly. The Healthy Schools Week was a tremendous success.
