  • Do you know about Healthy Schools?
  • Have you read our Governors' guide, a leaflet for governors?

Governors are in a privileged position to make positive changes for the whole school community. There is no doubt that all of us have the wellbeing of children and young people at heart and gaining National Healthy School Status celebrates the school's achievements in promoting this, but it is an ongoing process which needs to continue and develop to reflect the changing needs of the school community.

As a governor you have a wonderful opportunity to support your school within the Healthy Schools programme. Your school should have a person nominated to be the Healthy Schools Co-ordinator and often a governor with responsibility for Healthy Schools work. Even if you do not have direct responsibility for the programme within your school, you can make a difference.

Governors take a lead in setting the tone for good RSE in school. See the Governors pages on our RSE minisite for more information about this.

We've packed this website full of useful information and ideas to support the school and everyone involved with it, so add us to your "favourites"! We also have a forum for raising issues and discussion, why not join in?

Please contact us if you have any suggestions for content you think we ought to add to this page, or if there is anything that you, as a Governor, need to know.
