Cornwall

Kernow Matters 2010 has a useful summary in the Be Healthy chapter and Cornwall Council has also compiled a focus paper on sexual health, read more.

Comparison between Cornwall and other authorities

The Office for National Statistics produces statistics of teenage conceptions including an analysis by local authority and comparison between statistical neighbours.

We have some information and links on the unwanted teenage pregnancy page of our SRE minisite and the fpa regularly produces a factsheet giving key statistics on teenage pregnancy.

The Health Protection Agency collects and analyses data on sexually transmitted infections from genito-unrinary medicine (GUM) clinics. Data on STIs are also summarised in another factsheet from the fpa.

The East Midlands Public Health Observatory has developed an interactive mapping tool enabling comparison between Cornwall and other authorities. (EMPHO is the lead public health observatory for teenage pregnancy information.)

The Sexual Health Balanced Scorecard, developed and managed by the South West Public Health Observatory, provides an interactive mapping tool enabling comparison between primary care trusts across a range of indicators relating to teenage pregnancy, abortions, contraception, STIs and other relevant issues. Download a guide to the scorecard and visit the Sexual Health Balanced Scorecard.
