New Teaching Online Safety in School Guidance from DfE

The Department for Education has released new guidance to support schools to teach their pupils how to stay safe online, which complements existing and forthcoming subjects including Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education, Health Education, Citizenship and Computing.

A summary is that pupils are taught:

  • Underpinning knowledge and behaviours
  • How to evaluate what they see online
  • How to recognise techniques used for persuasion
  • Online behaviour
  • How to identify online risks
  • How and when to seek support

You can take a look at the full Teaching Online Safety in School guidance document, and check out our other support for this subject under our PSHE tab.
