Cornwall Healthy Schools Physical Activity Workshops
Our physical activity workshops have been specifically designed to help primary and secondary school practitioners broaden their knowledge about the current key health issues that surround physical activity, alongside signposting to further specialist support and advice on how schools can help to encourage the next generation to be more active and, as a result, to STAY active when they become adults!
Types of sessions:
Open: An open session is held at a council location for practitioners from a variety of schools to attend. To book on to an open session you will need to visit the training page on the Healthy Cornwall website.
Closed: A closed session is held at an individual school, either as a twilight session or as part of an INSET day. To book a closed session you will need to contact you locality advisor.

- This Girl Can in Your School
A considerable amount of research has shown that girls become less active than their male peers. This not only affects their physical health but also their emotional wellbeing. But why are girls less engaged in physical activities?
This awareness session will explore the current statistics around girls participation and will give you an insight of the barriers that girls face when being active. The session highlights some of the different things that school settings can be demonstrating to help break down these barriers and encourage girls to stay and/or become more active.
This awareness session is well suited for individuals who would like to raise the profile of physical activity for girls and young females.
Type of session: Open or Closed
Next open session details: 20th June 2019, Chy Trevail Bodmin, 1-3pm.
Length: 2 hours
